Excursion

Last Tuesday was  a great day, it was really one of the most beautiful day at TAFE . Tuesday is
Marion class , and last Tuesday Marion Decided to make the lesson more practical by visiting with another class few organisations in Kogarah area. Firstly we visited the St George Family Support Service, and a staff told us about the service provided and which people can benefit. Also we went to The Kogarah Storehouse, and the staff talked about how they deliver assistance for people, such as ( Emergency Relief Funding, Emergency Food  etc...). Later we visited Kogarah Council and  Kogarah Library . We had there coffee and cake then one of the staff from the council explained how the decisions and procedures were made, also the responsibilities of the council . After this a staff from the library came and took us in around trip introducing the library categories and sections. Finally it was time for lunch, and where can be a better place than Carss Park to have lunch. It was great specially when I was surprised with a Birthday cake prepared by Marion.
The trip was very enjoyable and educational, Also lots of fun.

Halloween

Halloween history started with the Celtic, 2000 years ago the Celtic people were living in Europe had a festival named "Samhain". The festival of "Samhain" is a celebration of the end of the harvest season. It was on October 31 at the end of the "lighter half" of the year and beginning of the  "darker half”. The Celtic believed that in this day the border between this world and the other world become thinner (i.e. between life and death), so they kindled a fire to keep the souls away .

The catholic church in the 7 century made influence on the Halloween celebration day, they have sought to change the meaning of Halloween day from being a day of raising souls to honour the dead.
The name of Halloween is Scottish origin and is short for " All Hollow’s Eve" the night before "All Hollow’s Day".

In America the tradition of celebration in Halloween day started with Irish immigrants , however the traditional celebration has evolved  from its original cultural . Halloween is still celebrated in several countries around the global.

At Halloween children wear unusual costumes ( it can be modelled after supernatural figures like monsters, devils, witches), and go from door to door, asking for candies, with the question:"Trick or treat?"
In Australia we celebrate Halloween, in fact on the 31st of Oct. twice 2 groups of kids wearing strange customs knock on our door and ask for candies.
In Lebanon we have "All Saints Day" but it 's a religion day and considered a public holiday .We have also "Id El-Barbara"  after the name of saint Barbara , the celebration of  this festival is similar  to Halloween in so many ways ( dressing , singing, food, etc..)

moon festival

Hou Yi was an expert archer and he was married to Chang er .
One day 10 suns arose in the sky instead one one, blazing the Earth. Hou Yi shot down nine of the suns and he became a hero. The Emperor rewarded Hou Yi with a pill that granted eternal life. But he recommended HouYi not to take the pill immediately so HouYi took the pill home.
One day his wife Chang Er discovered the pill and took it. Instantly , she jumped out the window of a room at the top of palace, and instead of falling, she floated into the sky toward the moon.
When HouYi came back home he was angry , and he tried to fly to his wife, but he was forced to return to Earth because of strong wind.
Once a year on the fifteenth day of the full moon Houyi visites his wife .That is the reason why the moon is very full and beautifull at night.

Feeding the birds

Last Saturday, my husband and I went to visit some friends. We sat on the balcony and after a few minutes two birds came.   At this time I was eating a pear. I approached and tried to feed them. At first they didn't come close but after a few seconds they came back and started to eat. Then more than ten birds came to the balcony. You can't imagine their sounds! My friends told me that I caused a problem for her!

about me

Hello everybody. My name is Fatima Sayed. I was born in Lebanon in a village named Aytaroun. It's just on the border of Palestine (Palestine is currently occupied by Israel) . I stayed  in the village until  I was 18. During this time I completed  my high school certificate, also I helped  to manage the farm which my father owns.
Then I moved to Beirut (capital of Lebanon) to study law.  It took me 4 years to graduate as a  Bachelor of Law  from "The Lebanese University" and 3 years to get a Masters degree. After this I registered with the Lawyers Union  and I worked as an advocate intern for only 4 months.

In 2008 I meet my husband while he was visiting Lebanon . We got engaged in 2009 and married in July 2010 when I came to Australia.
Now, I'm studying English to improve my language and be able to study law in Australia and be a lawyer
(In the future, if you have legal problems, contact me and of course I will help you.:) :)  )
